Pursuit of Meaningless Goals – The Way We See It

There was once a farmer with a dog who used to sit near a quiet gravel road waiting for vehicles to drive past. As soon as a vehicle came down the road, he would chase after it, relentlessly barking and trying to overtake it until he was left out of breath panting in a cloud of dust. One day, a neighbor asked the farmer jokingly, “Do you think your dog will ever quit chasing cars he can’t catch?” The farmer replied, “I don’t care if he chases them, but my worry is how disappointed he would be if he ever caught one.”

Here’s the way we see it: Many people waste their time pursuing meaningless goals that are sure to cause disappointment and heartache, when they could have used their ambition more wisely for goals that would better fulfill their lives.
